Case No 012 : What are the findings ?








Two findings : Simple cyst left kidney and retroaortic left renal vein 


  • The retroaortic left renal vein 
    • The prevalence of this anomaly is about 3%
    • can be seen either at the same level as a normal left renal vein or in a more caudal position, sometimes as low as the confluence of iliac veins
    • the anterior subcardinal veins regress completely and only the retroaortic left supracardinal vein and its anastomoses with the right supracardinal vein remain to drain the left kidney
